Benefits Of UPSC - CSE coaching

UPSC means Union Public Service Commission. All the central departments including Indian Administrative Service (IAS), Indian Police Service (IPS) and Indian Forest Service (IFS) come under the UPSC. It is the commission that is responsible for conducting the examination of these civil and defence services.

There are several exams conducted by the UPSC like the Civil Services Examination (CSE), Combined Defence Services Exam (CDSE), National Defence Academy (NDA) Exam, etc. A UPSC aspirant has to clear three divisions in order to get a placement in the concerned service sector.

The first division is Civil Services Preliminary Examination. This is further divided into two parts that are the General Studies (GS) paper and the other is Civil Services Aptitude Test (CSAT).

Both of the tests are held on the same day and consists of a total of 400 marks.

After clearing both of these exams, a UPSC aspirant has to clear the second division that is the Civil Services Mains Examination. The main examination consists of nine different papers with the total score being 1750.

Only seven out of these nine papers are considered for the evaluation and the rest two papers are given after an aspirant has scored the minimum marks given by UPSC every year. The third and the last division is the Civil Services Personality Test which is taken in the form of an interview. The interview is held before a board of UPSC members.

The interview is held to see the social qualities of the aspirant. They focus on the communication skills of the aspirant, critical thinking and reasoning, leadership qualities, mental awareness, to see whether the aspirant has knowledge about what is going on in their country rather than just having the knowledge that is given in the books and many different things. After all of the divisions are cleared, the final merit list is prepared by evaluating the marks of the aspirants in the second and the third division that is the main examination and personality test. After this, the aspirants are given their positions according to their performance and the vacancies available in the particular service sector that they have chosen.

Civil Services Examination (also known as IAS/IPS exam or UPSC exam) is considered to be one of the most difficult exams in India because of the small passing percentage and a lot of competition among the aspirants. Only about 0.2-0.5 per cent of the aspirants are able to clear the exam which is a small percentage as lakhs of people give the exam. A general student can attempt the paper only 6 times after failing and the maximum age limit is 32 years.

The average time to prepare for the UPSC examination is 6-12 months. It is very difficult for an aspirant to clear the UPSC exams without coaching as the competition is high and the passing percentage is very low as compared to other competitive exams. If an aspirant decides to clear the exam without taking the coaching for the exam it will be tough for him as a lot of discipline and practise is required to crack the exam.

A lot of information and notes are available online but most of the aspirants prefer some guidance by a qualified expert as it will be beneficial for the aspirant itself. The coaching institutes that especially give training for clearing these exams prepare their study material and notes that are beneficial for the aspirants as most of these are prepared by the experts in the field. Reading a large number of books and gathering irrelevant information will not help in clearing the exams but studying from the material will be useful as only relevant and important topics are covered so that the aspirants can pass the exam.

The most important thing required to pass the examination is self-discipline, proper guidance and proper time management. When a student studies in their school or college, they are mostly inattentive and also lack self-confidence but for a UPSC aspirant, it is important to pay attention to what is going around in the country and has to be attentive all the time.

Being punctual is very important and if an aspirant is not self-disciplined and punctual he/she might not be able to crack the exam. When an aspirant takes coaching for the exam, he/she is aware of the burden that they have on their studies and this helps them in getting more sincere towards their preparation. If an aspirant faces a problem with some topic he/she will be able to solve their doubts immediately and can ask the experts to explain it to them in a simpler way.

This is more effective than getting the doubts solved online as the aspirants can ask their doubts again if they are not clear. It is important for an aspirant to follow a routine and prepare accordingly. The coaching institutes for UPSC preparation ensures that the aspirants manage their time properly and study for the examination effectively. The proper time management helps the aspirants to be on track and study properly.

The most difficult part that an aspirant has to face is the third division of the examination that is the personality test or the interview. It is nearly impossible for an aspirant to prepare for the interview by themselves because he/she is totally unaware of what the board of members may ask them.

Coaching institutes help the aspirants here as they take several mock interview sessions and have specific techniques for them and help them develop the communication skills required for the personality test. It might be frustrating for the aspirants to be in a closed environment and keep studying for several hours by themselves. When an aspirant is studying in a coaching institute, he/she can study in groups that ultimately helps them in several ways.

Studying with different aspirants gives a sense of competition and one can use it to improve themselves and also the environment is such that aspirants do not feel tired. Studying with other aspirants also helps them in knowing their capability and hence it eventually helps them to prepare for the examination.

The aspirants can also exchange their knowledge about a certain topic and sharing these ideas may help other aspirants to understand the topic better. When aspirants prepare by themselves, they do revise the topics several times however the mistake they make is that they don't test out their knowledge.

An aspirant needs to take several mock tests so that they can get clarity of the questions that are asked in the test and can practice in a better way. Some best UPSC Coaching institutes help you with the same and take quite a few mock tests that help them in the preparation.

They also provide important information like changes in syllabus, exam patterns and news, question papers from previous years, etc. The updated information like updated syllabus, updated notes, etc helps the aspirants to be familiar with the information that some of the aspirants may not be aware of.

Some of the coaching institutes also organize several seminars for the aspirants that are held by qualified and expert people including different IAS/IPS officers that help the aspirants in building their self-confidence and motivate them to achieve the positions that they are aiming for. Some of these institutes provide a monthly report of every student that tells them how much progress they have made and what are the areas that the student have to focus on which makes the preparation easier.

Clearing UPSC exams means that an aspirant gets a chance to serve their country for the rest of their life and it is a proud moment for them and their family. You are the one who decides and makes several decisions for the department the person is heading. It is advisable to get coaching for the UPSC examination as it is beneficial for the aspirants in many ways. Even if an aspirant is familiar with a specific topic, studying it time and again will help them in enhancing their knowledge which will eventually help them in attempting the paper easily.

The coaching can help in delivering the best knowledge to an aspirant but it depends on them how they manage their time efficiently and prepare for the civil services exam. If an aspirant fails in any of the three divisions, the whole preparation will be wasted. For example, if an aspirant clears the first and the second division with good marks but then fails in the personality test, he/she will have to give the whole exam from the starting that is the first division and all of the preparation and time will be wasted. The aspirant may lose their self-confidence which may affect them in their life. Being sincere and studying in a systematic way will help the aspirant in clearing the exam.

Therefore it is important and beneficial for an aspirant to take coaching for the UPSC examination.
